According to 'The History Of Wetherby 1891-1941' by James Henry Clay, the Town Hall was used as Headquarters for the Territorials, and after the Great War one room was allocated for the use of ex-servicemen. He also notes that a rifle range was set up in the Shambles during the 1914-18 war.
