'4th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment (Detachment of G Co.), Drill hall, Bedford street.' (Kelly,
1911)
ds 'C' Squadron Sussex Yeomanry
Prior to this, Kelly, 1890, records: 'The I company of the 2nd Volunteer Battalion Royal Sussex
Regiment have their drill hall in the London road.' By 1905 this had changed to the Bedford street
address. The 1914 OS map shows a drill hall to the west side of Bedford street.
We have noted an online reference to the Picturedrome in Canada Grove being used as a drill hall
during the first World War. We have not been able to substantiate this.
