HQ 5th Norfolk:'5th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment; orderly room & head quarters, 1 Quebec street.' (Kelly, 1912)
The drill hall on Norwich road has been mentioned in reminiscences of post-war years. However, the premises now on Norwich road are a modern (?1960s) construction, used by the TA and we saw no evidence of a former drill hall building, though the site is clearly well-established and edged by old walls. (June 2005)
Quebec road is a mainly ?Georgian residential street within the town centre and we suggest that number 1 was a private house used as a Headquarters and offices. We could not see premises which might have been a purpose-built drill hall.
