‘C Co. 1st Volunteer Battalion, armoury, Barking lane.’ (Kelly, 1902)

‘The Drill Hall for the 4th Territorial Battalion Essex Regiment, and the head quarters of the East Anglian Divisional Transport and Supply Column, Army Service Corps, Territorial Force, is in the High road; [the building was] erected by the late Miss E. Thompson. The drill-ground and club-house for the use of the 4th Territorial Battalion Essex Regiment, in Gordon road, were provided at the expense of the Rev. the Hon. H. W. Bertie D.C.L. vicar here 1844-81.’ (Kelly, 1914)

Specifically, Kelly, 1914, places the 4th Battalion Essex Regiment, Drill hall [at] High road; armoury, Gordon road; C Co.’ Also at High road (number 156) is the Headquarters of the Army Service Corps and the East Anglian Divisional Transport and Supply Column [plus East Anglian Divisional (Head quarters) Co]. The 8th (Cyclist) Battalion Essex Regiment (F Co.) was at 2 Ilford lane.
