The entry for Shaftesbury in Kelly's Directory 1895 reports that ‘The [I] Company of the 1st Volunteer Battalion, Dorsetshire Regiment, have their armoury in Bell street; Colour-Sergt George Hacker, in command; Sergt Wm.Edward Mozley instructor.’

Kelly, 1911, refers to the ‘Left Half of E Co.’ 4th Battalion at the Armoury, 35 Bell street

Kelly, 1935, refers to a drill hall in Victoria Street: “Territorial Army Royal Artillery 94th (Queen's Own Dorset Yeomanry) Field Brigade 375th Battery Head Quarters, Drill Hall, Victoria Street.”
