Kelly,1912, records their head quarters at the Drill hall. He also notes ‘The Armoury’ but is not specific about its location.

Local people recall a drill facility in Swaldlincote, though there is no sign of it now. (2009) It seems to have been somewhere in the tram-shed complex that served the Burton and Ashby Light Railway. The railway (it was always operated by trams) closed around the time of the General Strike and the sheds were replaced by a new shed, in front of them, by the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Company.

The tram-shed and generator house eventually became a National Coal Board workshop and our correspondent reports that a former employee remembers that, in some cellars, there were some training dummies and suchlike left over from the Drill 'Hall'.

Thank you to Keith Jackson for inquiring about this for us.
