‘The Royal Naval Reserve Hall, built in 1886 at the north-east end of the town, is used as a drill hall by the Right Section of the Ammunition Column 4th East Lancashire (Howitzer) Brigade Royal Field Artillery Territorial Force. There is a 5 inch Howitzer gun and an ammunition wagon.’ (Kelly, 1914) Its office was given as 51 Curzon street.
