'Bideford is the head quarters of C Company 6th Battalion Devonshire Regiment Territorial Force; the drill hall is on Torridge hill.' (Kelly, 1914)

Kelly notes that the Royal North Devon (Hussars), D Squadron, are at Fore Street.

There is reference to a drill hall in Torridge hill, Bideford. No building exists with a clear military origin; it is assumed that premises were aquired for use as a drill hall, and whilst Torridge hill offers a number of suitable buildings, we cannot suggest which one was used.
