The Buxton Directory of 1908 records M Company of the 2nd Volunteer Battalion the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Battalion) having a Drill Hall at Rock Terrace. The Sergeant Instructor, Colour Sergeant J H Green, is listed at 4, Rock terrace.
There is now no evidence of a drill hall on Rock terrace and number 4 is a private house.
