Bulmer's History & Directory Of Cumberland, 1901, states, ‘The Drill Hall and Armoury, in connection with the F Company Volunteers Brigade Border Regiment, is situated in Carlisle Road.’ Later, Kelly, 1914, refers to this as ‘left half of C Co. [4th Battalion Border Regiment], The Armoury.’
