The drill hall was used for entertainments. (Kelly, 1914)

Local residents recall its use for dances and social occasions. During the Second World War, the dances attracted the men from the RAF base near Wilmslow and the drill hall had a reputation as a place where nice girls should not go.

The drill hall has been demolished. It is now the site of a major supermarket and adjoining car park.
